The Recovery Journey
The Recovery Journey at Kelim
At Kelim, we see recovery as more than simply stopping substance use.
Recovery is the process of rebuilding a person's life — restoring stability, strengthening mental and emotional wellness, developing healthy behaviours and relationships, and preparing for meaningful, independent living.
Seven stages
A Step-by-Step Path Forward
- 01
Get Safe
Recovery begins with creating a safe, stable and substance-free environment. Residents step away from environments and patterns that may have contributed to destructive behaviour and begin establishing structure, routine and accountability.
- 02
Get Sober
With a stable environment and ongoing recovery support, residents focus on maintaining sobriety and understanding the behaviours, thinking patterns and circumstances that contributed to their substance use.
- 03
Get Stable
Residents begin developing emotional stability, healthy routines and personal responsibility. They learn to manage stress, emotions, relationships and everyday challenges without returning to destructive behaviours.
- 04
Get Stronger
Through therapeutic development and mental wellness support, residents work on self-awareness, emotional resilience, decision-making, confidence and healthier thinking patterns. The focus is on becoming stronger from the inside out.
- 05
Get Skilled
Recovery must translate into everyday life. Residents develop practical life skills, communication skills, financial awareness, work readiness, problem-solving and independent-living skills.
- 06
Get Purposeful
A sustainable recovery needs something meaningful to move towards. Residents are encouraged to identify their strengths, interests and goals and begin building a future around purpose, contribution and personal responsibility.
- 07
Get Back to Life
The ultimate goal is reintegration. Residents work towards employment, healthy relationships, financial independence and continued recovery, gradually transitioning towards a productive and independent life.

From recovery to real life
From Recovery to Real Life
At Kelim, we don't simply ask:
“How do we keep someone sober?”
We ask:
“How do we help someone build a life worth staying sober for?”
Because sobriety is the foundation — but a meaningful life is the destination.
